A co-applicant is an additional person who can live in the rental unit. They have equal rights as any other tenant and are equally liable for the rent and all other obligations with respect to the tenancy. Should one applicant leave, the other applicant(s) can continue living at the property if they can cover the entire rent amongst themselves. Co-living is an increasingly popular form of tenancy in recent years and is more common among the student community.
